Engineering New Zealand Practice Note 19
This one-day workshop is designed for engineers who are involved with the mechanical and structural seismic design of pressure equipment. The workshop will have an emphasis on mechanical items such as pressure equipment (including pipe work) covered by the Pressure Equipment (PECPR) Regulations.
Description
Suggest a date/location
Participants will be given a broad overview of Practice Note 19 Version 4 and how to use the various sections and appendices for the seismic design of industrial structures, pressure equipment and their supports including the latest version of NZS 1170.5.
The course will cover:
- an overview of Practice Note 19
- how the seismic design forces for industrial elements are determined: for standalone pressure equipment, combination structures that are a mixture of structural supports and pressure equipment and for distributive systems such as pressure pipework
- support structure’s Design Statements
- alterations to existing equipment
- minimum seismic coefficients for pressure equipment.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the day, participants will have:
- an understanding of the content of Practice Note 19
- an understanding of the legislative requirements covering seismic design of industrial plant both new and modifications to existing plant
- a working knowledge of the methods to determine seismic coefficients for items they design or specify
- a working knowledge of the guidelines for retrofitting or modifying existing plant
- the requirements for producing support Design Statements that will be accepted by the statutory inspectors.
