Masterclass: Project Management for Engineers and Leaders

Join our exclusive limited offering: Project Management Masterclass. Many practitioners who have to manage projects have never been formally exposed to a structured “big picture” of how to scope and plan a project. This masterclass aims to present a structured and coherent way of accepted best practice principles used to scope, plan and define project resources.

Description

Getting the project plan right goes a very long way towards making accurate estimates, preventing scope creep, overruns and bow-outs and also help to set a sound baseline against which the execution of the project can be measured and controlled.

This masterclass will introduce a structured and logical way to plan a project  for those experienced with project management as well as to seasoned practitioners.

The key tasks of the project manager, from defining requirements, scoping the work, determining project activities to defining required resources are dealt with by using progressive definition process.

This Course is aimed at Council engineers, development engineers, consulting engineers, contractors, product or software developers, manufacturing, and also procurement officials in client organisations, whether public or private sector.

Learning outcomes

Delegates who attend the masterclass will be able to:

  •  Apply proper scoping and planning in order to prevent so-called overruns and blow-outs.

  • Develop a project brief/charter that also includes the project manager’s mandate.

  • Demonstrate how to effectively define project activities.

  • Demonstrate how to effectively define project resources, with specific reference to risk and time estimation.

  • Integrate the project plan into a coherent baseline that can be used for progress tracking and project control during project execution.
